Hi, I’m Alfie – short for Alfalfa (thank goodness, Alfie suits me much better!). I’m a handsome nine-year-old gentleman with some Maine Coon in my family tree—just look at my pictures and you’ll probably see it, too. I’m a gray tabby with white paws and little black patches on my back feet, with a soft, silky coat that’s a joy to pet. Even though I keep myself well-groomed, I love it when someone brushes me.
Life hasn’t always been easy for me. A younger cat in my previous home was a bit too rough and playful, which made me anxious and skittish. Then, when a new baby joined the family and turned out to be allergic, it became clear I needed a quieter place to call my own. Because of all this, I’d really prefer a calm, patient home with one or two adults and no other pets.
The good news is—I’m making great progress with my foster mom! I no longer hide all day, I’m eating well again, and I’ve started playing with toys—feather wands, ping pong balls, and even electronic games. Sometimes when I’m feeling brave, I’ll gently tap my foster mom’s arm with my paw to ask for a little petting (she loves that!). Sudden movements and new people can still make me nervous, but with time and kindness, I know I’ll keep blossoming.
I’m looking for a special, cat-savvy person who will give me the patience and understanding I need. In return, I’ll be a loyal, affectionate companion who loves to be brushed and by your side. Could that be you?
